I am a long time Spider-Man fan from my toddler days and I have to say that since the end of Back in Black I have not been much of a Spidey reader. I was very turned off by the whole Brand New Day and only glanced at a few stories here and there. During the Initiative era there was one issue of Avengers: The Initiative that caught my eye and it featured the Initiative trying to depower Spider-Man to replace him with the Scarlet Spiders. I thought Dan Slott was phoning in his desire to write Spider-Man (who had rotating writers & artist) and now, he has arrived.In My Honest Opinion, Dan Slott has done to Peter Parker what has been decades in the works. He has taken the very intelligent Peter Parker and given him the life that he has long since deserved. Is everything perfect for Peter? No, that would be dull. However, Peter is not the under achiever everyone always wrote him as before either. He is using his scientific knowledge and (new) resources to make himself the Spider-man we have always wanted to see.His first challenge? A new Hobgoblin. The identity of this individual is given in this story and the character is very interesting and entertaining. We also get a glimpse at the next story arc which ushers in even more changes for Peter.I highly recommend this book for any fan of Spider-Man.
